A passkey is an authentication method that lets you log in using your device's biometrics (fingerprint or facial recognition) or screen lock (such as a PIN) instead of a password.
There's no need to remember a password, and because it's resistant to phishing attacks, it's a highly secure way to sign in.
Supported environments
Passkeys can be used on passkey-compatible operating systems and browsers.
The main supported environments are as follows:
* iPhone / iPad: Safari
* Mac: Safari
* Android: Chrome
* Windows: A compatible browser
Note: Passkeys may not be available on some in-app browsers (such as the browser inside the Google app) or on older operating systems and browsers. In that case, please access the service using a compatible browser such as Safari or Chrome, or log in with your password.
Setting up a passkey
1. Open "Account settings" → "Passkeys."
2. Select "Add a passkey."
3. Authenticate using your device's screen lock (fingerprint, facial recognition, PIN, etc.).
4. Your passkey is created, and you can use it to log in from next time onward.
The passkey you create may be synced with your other devices signed in to the same account through services such as iCloud Keychain or Google Password Manager.
Managing and deleting passkeys
You can view your registered passkeys in a list under "Security" → "Passkeys." Please delete any passkeys you no longer need.
When you part with a device, we recommend also deleting the passkeys registered on that device.
If you lose your device or can't use your passkey
Even if your passkey is unavailable, you can still log in with another authentication method, such as your password.
Also, if you find a passkey registered that you don't recognize, please delete it from "Security" → "Passkeys."
